Scuba diving in Playa del carmen, mexico

Has anyone done any scuba around this area? Do you have a dive company that you have used and recommend?
I and a buddy have seen the reefs and are looking for something else to see and do. Thanx for any responses.

yes but you end up going half way to cozumel...did that in '90

cozumel itself has been mostly ruined by the cruise ship docks
when i 1st dove at cozumel ('91) LaSeiba hotel was at the way far end of a dirt road and all of the dives were teaming with fish and life. and you took a taxi to Casa del Pescador to let the chickens walk under the picnic tables while you ate wonderful lobster caught that day.
dove again there in '04 and it was so bad the 1st day we did NOT dive the 2nd day because there was nothing to see.

its one of those places that got too popular and its popularity killed what made it nice

try to find a scuba forum with some more recent experiences, but i doubt its gotten better....sorry to say

    steve

i used to scuba dive a lot...that was during my 20year retirement

Has anyone used " Blue Life Diving" ? They seem to offer a wide range of dives. They offer a "bull shark dive" wit the use of "nitrox" Does that allow for deeper dive without extended decompressions?

    nitrox can yes

a shark feed dive can be pretty intense

i have an entire video i filmed at Stuart Cove's in the bahamas...most of the time there are 14 sharks in front of my lense.
the hardest part is just sitting there an not having your hands out to balance...the fishes that go chompchomp tend to like fingers being waved around. and when 1 comes from behind right over your head...the 9-10foot bull shark looks mighty darn scary.
in my video you can hear me go "OOOOHHHHHHHH" as one does that

I think we need an advanced cert. to do nitrox dives. I will check into this. We have just open water" cert.

    sure thing anytime
i've done a great deal of diving...in the caribean - grand cayman, cayman brac, little cayman, cozumel, bahamaha, stkitts, key west, roatan; then costa rica (pacific side - vastly different than atlantic side) and also a 3day live aboard on great barrier reef ene of cairns.

All went well with me doing Cynote [sp?] diving. Two dives ,with the 1st using nitrox. to only 40 ft. so the 2nd dive had a shorter rest time between. Really cool being inclosed in dark caverns with only a hand held light to peer into the horizontal abyss! Once I had a spooky feeling being in the maze of caverns with only a small guide rope for reference. It was an experience to talk about to others for me. Very cool!!

I sent a thank you note to Blue Life diving for taking care of my dive partner that was having a really off day and could not do the dive.
I'm glad they think safety first in the care of the divers.

Along with swimming, Diving is my other passion in life. I am so glad to hear you had a great time in the Cenotes, they are amazing- and can be rather challenging diving. If you get a chance place a good review on the dive operations trip advisor reviews- it will really help fellow divers when they are looking for a reputable and SAFE dive operator to use. I have heard about and seen some pretty unsafe and ultimately deadly practices in the caves, so a positive review is helpful!

Thanx for the view tip. As a teacher of 38 years, I try to reward the positive people of the world as many only rip on poor/bad experiences they have had. Blue life diving has been highly recommended by me for care & safety. I see that you are from Plainfield -not too far from me in Schaumburg. Are you going to the state meet or the small meet at Bartlett next sat?
