To breakfast or not to breakfast?

With the mix of athletes we have on here I would love to hear what your breakfast habits are like.

During my age group days eating a big breakfast before early morning practice was tough--simply because if not eating meant getting another 10 minutes of sleep so be it.

As I've gotten older eating breakfast has helped me with calming down my binge eating later in the night. (This post on nutrition for college athletes emphasizes the importance of breakfast for this reason, among others.) I find that breakfast is also one of the meals that I don't have a problem making smart food decisions. Unlike when it's 9pm and the willpower is running on fumes.

My usual breakfast these days are a couple eggs, half an avocado, a cup of sweet potatoes, and enough sriracha to melt my face.

    So...what's your breakfast routine like?

Workout mornings, I'll do half of a protein bar on the drive to practice. Afterwards I'll do a boiled egg and a cup of yogurt and fruit for b'fast. By about 9, I need to nibble so I eat the other half of the bar and it gets me thru to lunch.

I normally just have a cup of coffee before heading to the pool in the morning. After practice, I'll have a Jimmy Dean turkey breakfast sandwich and some low-fat chocolate milk before heading to the office. If I'm really hungry I also might have some whole wheat toast with peanut butter.

I suffered a pretty serious bonk after practice about two years ago when I didn't eat anything after a hard workout, so now make sure I have something to eat after every practice.

I always eat something before practice if I swim in the morning. I almost always go with the easiest choice which, for me, is a bowl of cereal. I like to drink some coffee, too.

Typically a bowl of regular oatmeal and either some pineapple or strawberries. Glass of orange juice or some almond milk.

Depends on the day and /or amount of time I have.

    #1-Vegan Smoothie:

    2 cups unsweetened Almond milk
2 hands full baby kale/spinach mix
    1 tbsp Turmeric
    1 tbsp ground cinnamon
    1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
    2 tbsp flax seed meal
    1+ cup of blueberries

Put all in blender and drink up. The ingredients are all anti oxidant, high in fiber, cancer fighting, all the other positive things for life.

    #2- 3 donuts.

#3- (when time allows) chorizo Burrito

A banana right before the drive to the pool. After swimming, I have 3 eggs (scrambled) and a banana+strawberry smoothie with whey protein. I usually have a small dinner, so I get pretty hungry in the mornings. The banana before swimming wakes me up and gives me more energy during the swim.

Are we talking about breakfast shortly before a practice, or breakfast several hours before any exercise?
If I am going to do a morning practice (as starting 8:30 am or earlier) I can't eat much. I usually have one or two thin slices of lightly toasted wheat bread and some water.
For a regular breakfast, I typically prepare an egg and cheese on toast sandwich, and some juice. If I have a lot of time, as on a holiday, I might cook waffles or a breakfast cake and have some fruit. If I don't plan to exercise that day, my breakfast will be smaller.

You have led a sheltered life, then. Have you heard of breakfast pizza?

Coffee and bread to wake me up. Nothing real heavy specially if I'm going to swim after eating.
