    Question 2018 Resolutions, Anyone?

Since many have resolutions outside of just swimming, thought I would start this thread over here...

I'm going to take on something new this year and teach at least three adults I know who have asked me over the past year how to swim freestyle well enough to enter a triathlon. These are folks that have never been in the water other than to splash around. (Wish me luck!)

What are you going to do that's new, different, a challenge, or just fun?

    Re: 2018 Resolutions, Anyone?

Coaching people into a new skill is so rewarding. I coached CrossFit classes for several years and most of the people at my morning class were the soccer mom, not ever an athlete type. It was awesome to see them learn and do these athletic skills that to me would be so fundamental, like a box jump or a good pushup or pullup. Best of luck!

I feel like I should make some kind of goals/resolutions, but I did that beginning of the year last year and went through so many various life changes (new job, moved to the opposite side of city with all the accompanying adjustments, got married, started swimming again) that not only did I not make most of the goals I set, many of them just became irrelevant.

Maybe my main resolution this year should be to not make so many dang changes!

Other than that... I want to swim at Nationals and break a minute in the 100 breast. I want to go on an actual relaxing vacation. I want to sort out my diet and meds situation to finally get my UC into full remission. I want to pick up either my guitar or bass again and play at least once a week. I want to deadlift 475#. I want to start going to bible study at my church on a regular basis.

I think that about runs the gamut.
400 IMer/200 backstroker in another life, now sprinter/breaststroker... Yeah, I don't know how that happened either!

    Hey JP -

I like that most of your goals are within your power! Keep that list out on your counter and I bet you will knock off more than a few!

JP I'm with you on the goals from last year. A move, new job and little vacation left most of my goals going out the window, unfortunately. But it's all good. I'm in a much better place with all of this change so it's a worthy tradeoff.

This year, it's all about the Sr Games for me. I have my eyes dead focused on some very specific goals for the 50, 100, 200 and mostly 500 free and can't wait. I do need to drop a few lbs thanks to my "freshman 15" gained with the new job so I've joined a fitness challenge starting next week. Other than these two things, I need to get a fall OW race or two on the calendar. After paddling at Suck this year, I'd kind of like to do that one, but would also like to hit Barbados or head back "home" to St Croix in Nov.

Try not to get so angry with "bad/distracted" drivers !!!
Focus more on my swimming and not just medals.
Be more considerate of others in my neighborhood.
Sell my vette at a lower price than I think it's worth ??!!
Teach the grandkids to swim 50 yards correctly.

My new years resolution is to not make one. Did that last year and it worked out great.
