Beetroot for stamina - Powder vs. Juice

I've been reading about the benefits of beetroot juice for swimmers regarding stamina. I'd like to trying using it but find the bottle juice form very expensive. Does anyone know if the powder works as well? Also, any thoughts on the subject?

I remember as a kid I thought beets had such an unpleasant taste, but now I find them tasty, actually damn good to be exact. Since “beets” are in fact part of the root of the plant, maybe the grocery store’s fresh produce section is a safer and cheaper alternative. I also remember my grandma grew her own beets and jarred them

Thanks Steve. I'll consider beets in the produce section. And cheap is good . It would be nice to find a cheaper alternative than beet juice. It's very expensive.
