    Rotator cuff issues

i have been unable to swim for the last 1 1/2 years because of multiple surgeries and the rehab time. when i tried t swim again, both of my shoulders were seriously hurting. My dr, said RC issues and prescribed PT. After 3 months of PT there was almost no change and he suggested surgery. After 3e surgeries last year i am in no rush to more and have stopped PT. Listening to the news the other evening this was discussed. Has anyone had something like this? What were the results? I have an appt with the dr. seen in the nbc site.

    Arlene,
1st off im not a doctor, but i do play one on tv.
and i have slept in a holiday inn express. several times actually.
oh, and i've had 2 surgeries on my right shoulder and know enough to talk at length on it. because im a doc on tv

how old are you and what have you had done.

realize that when they pull the probes out ... you end up with 1-2 rotator cuff tears because they just had those probes through those muscles!!!
infraspunatus and tere's minor ... well 2 of the 4 anyway

really cant say more until we know your med history. now while i've passed all the hippa training (as well as gdpr) others may not have. so its up to you to say what you want

Thanks Steve, that explains it in perspective. My rotator cuff was fine until I had my labrum fixed. Itís been 18months since the operation and I am still, slowing recovering. The pain is below all the scars, and I still feel scar tissue freeing up during stretches. But swimming is improving for both shoulders

did they have you doing the overhead pulleys?
i was 1 week post-op when i started pulleys and bands
in another thread i posted exactly what milestones i hit in the pool.
age can be a big factor
as other aspects can as well
its all about range of motion and stability
believe me...on my 2nd surgery that had the bicep tenonesis done...it was freaking me out how things moved around inside
and had to re-align...that i could feel!
dang i'm starting to think i should write a book on this.

    Re: Rotator cuff issues

Thatís what I notice - the things moving around in there . It feels like the shoulder breaking in more than anything. One sure thing which is good is that every month feels better than the prior, just very slow. Had tenodesis reattachment, debridment, chondroplasty, 3 anchors, and 4 holes drilled in the shoulder, (like your 2nd one). I was in the pool at 4 weeks kicking and letting arm drag behind. I think I slowed down healing a few times with sudden movements, but my BIGGEST mistake was not getting a recliner to sleep in until 2nd month
