Emerald Aquatics Swim Team (EA) is seeking a part-time, 4.5 hour/week, year-round Masters Coach for a USMS/USAS affiliated program in Eugene, OR. This position requires coaching the morning workouts for the masters as well as our USAS senior group in the winter. The candidate chosen will need to be/become a USAS certified coach. Primary duties include planning workouts and providing technical instruction for various levels of adult athletes. The applicant must have previous, applicable experience as a swim coach, be able to motivate, inspire enthusiasm, build team cohesiveness, communicate effectively, provide positive reinforcement and help each swimmer attain their goals in a fun environment.

1) Coaching Responsibilities:
a) Coaching EA Masters practices as requested by the Head Coach
i) EA Masters have 6-7 weekly practices
ii) This position is for our MWF 6:00-7:30 AM practices
iii) There may be future opportunities to coach other practices
b) Provide instruction on proper technique and suggest modifications when needed
c) Track attendance
d) Travel to occasional swim meets
e) Attend continuing education for swimming coaches when recommended
f) Set goals and structure for the group with an annual opportunity for individual goal setting
g) Assist in recruiting new members to the EA Masters
h) Report monthly to the Head Coach


2) Qualifications:
a) High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelorís Degree preferred
b) Past swimming experience, college level preferred
c) One or more years coaching experience preferred
d) Excellent communication skills
e) Must be 18 years of age or older
f) Have/be willing to secure all required USA Swimming Coach Certifications
g) Be able to motivate adult athletes in a positive manner
h) Have a strong understanding of stroke mechanics and training principles

3) Background Check: Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment


4) Compensation: $15-$20/hr based on qualifications and experience
