place to swim in Galveston?
I will be in Galveston in the middle of December and was hoping to either swim with a masters group, or at least find a lap pool.
I'll be staying at the San Luis, but will have access to a car.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey Sandie,
I'm not shure about Galveston, however there is a pool in Freeport. It is quite a drive about 45 min or so. You can call the Freeport Recreation Center for workout times and exact directions (979) 233-6061. If you do decide to go that route I think you will be pleased. It travels along the coast and is very senic. I hope this helps.

You can try Williams Indoor Pool about 25 minutes north of Galveston off of I-45. It is a 10 lane pool primarily set up for lap swimming. Water temp is okay (about 82) and it has good hours (5:30-10:00 a.m. and 4:00-8:00 p.m.) Daily fee is only $3. Their phone # is 281-486-2626 for directions.
There is a Y in Galveston but I've been told the water is bathtub hot.

That may have to be my day off!!
Thanks so much for the replies!
Unfortunately, schedule won't permit that distance to a pool, so I guess I'll either be taking it easy or dusting off the running shoes.
Thanks again!

good place to swim is the Moody Gardens Hotel. There is an indoor, naturally lit lap pool with two (2) lanes.

8 lanes olympic with a 4 lane warm up.
Per day price is $6.
