Talking Congrats to Illinois Masters Swimmer & Chicago Smelts Swimmers at IGLA 2003 Champs

Congratulations to the Illinois Masters Swimmer (Carl Saxton) & the Chicago Smelts Swimmers (Jeremy Voigt, Victoria Stagg Elliott, Marc Arendt, Brian Sey, Derek Moore) who participated at the 2003 IGLA Championships August 22-24 at Stanford University.

Top 8 in each age group placed with medals awarded for 1-3, and ribbons for 4-8.

Top eight finishers were:
Jeremy Voigt (M25-29) - 200 free (6th)
Victoria Stagg Elliott (W30-34) - 100 fly (3rd), 400 IM (1st), 1500 free (3rd)
Carl Saxton (M30-34) - 800 free (8th), 400 IM (6th), 200 IM (6th), 400 free (6th), 1500 free (3rd)

Unlike the "shelter" that was available in Tempe, Stanford had no shaded areas, save the bathrooms, and it was unusually warm, reaching 90 degrees on Saturday afternoon. Despite the temperatures and lack of shading, the meet was a huge success, with participants coming from 11 different countries to compete in Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronized Swimming, and the Pink Flamingo.

Results are now posted on the IGLA page.

Congratulations to all who participated!
