If I could follow a specific training schedule, there would be much more motivation for me to actually do it. |

Re: Michael Phelps Workout
If you go to some of his fansites they will have scans of his workouts from various magazines. Just look in the galleries. I know this isn't very specific but you usually find more on fansites than when you just google it.

Re: Michael Phelps Workout
Here are a couple of things I have read over the years:
MP once did a set of 15x200 back and finished the last one in 1:45 Swam a 5000 Free in 46:34 averaging 9:20 per 1000 ( that is the Senior National Cut in the 1000). Can Kick a 500 Fr in under 5:00 w/a board. I know that he (or used to) do a lot of Fr/IM sets and distance free sets. Bowman liked alot of the descending stuff. he also did the Barrowman routine for dryland with a medicine ball. He usually averaged 70-80k yards per week in season. |

Does any of this sound like "leaps tall buildings in a single bound"?

Long Swim Down 100-200-300 pull (lungbusters by quarters) 400 choice kick 300-200-100 IM Drills i have three more, ill post later[/quote] Okay. I'm sorry for the stupid question. I'm still relatively new to swim training hard...what are "lungbusters"?

Re: Michael Phelps Workout
Here's my
on the success story of team Bowman/Phelps:http://sandviken.blogspot.com/2007/0...ranscript.html I think Michael mentioned in an interview how important his mother's support was. He's a great athlete and a real man and I really admire him for that .

Re: Michael Phelps Workout & Gossip
Quote:
"As a seven-year-old, he refused to put his face in the water. Sensing Michael’s fear, his instructors allowed him to float around on his back. No surprisingly, the first stroke he mastered was the backstroke." And here's the gossip: "By then, Michael’s home life had changed drastically. After years of fighting, his parents divorced. High school sweethearts, they had separated before Michael was born, gotten back together, and then split for good in 1992. The kids went to live with Debbie. Michael grew very close to his mother, while Fred faded from the picture. To this day, he has very little contact with his father." Source: http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Phelps/Phelps_bio.html

Re: Michael Phelps Workout
Sheesh Kirk.
Looking at those times from 2000/2001 - those results are from before he got REALLY fast. 3:40 for a 400 free probably from a push and it was his tenth one! Wonder what the current results might be...

Re: Michael Phelps Workout
Check out the info on Tom Dolan provided by usswim. There is a lot more to look at/analyze. I love the hand writen note (by Rick Curl) who says "hear are some sets I have thought of," presumably he gave this piece of paper to Dolan? Anyhow, 24 x 400's Done 6 of each stroke, decend 1-6. That is a 9,600 yard set. Rick Curl deserves a swift kick in the groin for even thinking of that set.
