Lightbulb Fitness Article of the Month for February, 2003

The USMS Fitness Committee produces many different types of articles about swimming, with topics ranging from swimming technique to nutrition. We have recently established a new feature called Fitness Article of the Month, and we showcase a new article each month on the USMS Web Site. At the end of each month, each article becomes part of the permanent archive.

This month's article is a two-part nutrition information piece by Jani Sutherland, Co-Fitness Chair of the Oregon LMSC, and member of the USMS Fitness Committee. This article is from the February issue of the Aqua-Master, official newsletter of the Oregon LMSC, and it is reprinted with permission from the author.

To view this article, visit the USMS web site Fitness section at:

http://www.usms.org/fitness/ and go to the "Articles" section.

Or, simply go to:

Enjoy!

Hi everyone,

We were curious, so we thought we would try the items listed in the latest Fitness Article of the Month. This month, several members of the USMS Fitness Committee are sampling these products and writing down what we think of them.

During our journeys, we discovered a typo in the Center for Science in the Public Interest report. Item #3, the Wendy's Mandarin Chicken Sandwich is actually a salad and not a sandwich. In case you were wondering about this product, we thought we would let you know while we were correcting the typo in our web article.

Stay tuned for more thoughts on these fast food items.
