The Nineteenth Annual 24 Mile Tampa Bay Marathon Swim will be on April 16, 2016. Entry information is available at http://www.distancematters.com. We are able to accept up to 24 solo and relay entries. In addition to race day swimming, we are now able to offer solo swims of Tampa Bay from March 1st to May 31. Email us for more information, or to indicate your interest in training, or entering as a swimmer, or to receive more information about becoming an event volunteer.

Open water coaching, training and qualifying are offered year-round in Florida. In the Tampa Bay area during January and February, we have water temperatures that hover around 60F/16C. Call or email us for more information about scheduling with The Distance Matters Open Water Boot Camp for training, cold water acclimation, and qualifying for marathon swims.

Tampa Bay's marathon swim race is one of the world's longest, covering the length of Florida's largest estuary. Since the 24 Mile Tampa Bay Marathon Swim was first staged in 1998, it has drawn competitors from across the United States, and from Great Britain, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Baliwick of Jersey, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Germany, India, Canada, and the Cayman Islands. The race is one of the world's longest marathon swims, and is held annually in April, in celebration of Earth Day.
