I just received a message from Nancy Ridout that Ray Taft passed away. Ray was one of the first members of United States Masters Swimming.
Ray was awarded the Ransom Arthur in the late 1970's He was also elected to the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Ray suffered an anurism a few weeks ago, was unconscious for a couple of weeks, then came out of it. He was moved to an extended care facility. A few days ago he was moved back into the hospital suffering from pneumonia.
He is survived by his wife Zada and children.
You could always tell when Ray aged up because the records in the new age group would fall.
Ray has many many friend in Pacific Masters and The San Mateo Master Marlins, where he was a member. Ray will be missed by all.
