went over to the gym for an after-work solo swim today:

500 w/u (with a bit of breast)

4 x 50 breast kick @ :55 (board only)

100 easy, done 25 free/25 breast

5 x 100 kick @ 1:50, done as 25 flutter/25 dolphin (w/fins + board)

2 x 50 @ 1:00, 25 easy free, 25 fly (w/fins)

100 easy, done 25 free/25 breast

25 easy (to other side)

10 x 50, 2 each @ 1:00/:55/:50/:45/:40

50 easy (grabbing equip)

12 x 100 swim w/Agility paddles, #1-9 @ 1:25, #10-12 @ 1:20

25 easy

300 pull, done 50 free/25 breast (w/buoy + Catalyst paddles)

200 w/d

TTL: 3800 yards


started and finished in the pool by myself, but a few others came and went while I was there.
one guy was in the lane next to me, looked pretty fast. did a couple of 100 IM's, some fast free, fin sets, pulling, etc. I think I've seen him before. I thought of asking if he wanted to swim some sets together, but I didn't really want to do IM sets...
having someone in the next lane actually swimming though kept me motivated to keep going.

my swim actually felt pretty good. I didn't expect to swim this much. I was planning on just 10 x 100s, but at 9 I felt great, so I dropped the interval and did a few extra.



I did swim on Saturday, with the team @ Skyline. I think the coach's name was Jen? main sets were:
4 x 75 @ 1:15 (some drills involved)
4 x 225 @ 3:00
4 x 75 @ 1:15 (similar to above)

there was a kids triathlon going on at the time, parking lot was packed. there wasn't a workout at Kino, and no Sunday workout, so it seemed a bit more crowded than normal. well as normal goes, I rarely swim on Saturdays.


somehow over the weekend I got some nasty stomach bug. I'm thinking I caught it toward the end of that work conference. my body and immune system were weak. it hit me hard on Saturday. I thought it was done, and was planning to take my bike out yesterday. only it wasn't done, was even worse...so ended up at home most of the day again. well other than taking Holly for a walk.
I woke up this morning, thinking of swimming. but I was still a bit tired and weak so decided to get a little more sleep. thankfully the worst of the bug seems to be done.
