hadn't done a PM-AM workout mix for a while, and I felt it this morning.

AM masters workout @ Kino, w/Paul coaching

300 w/u

pre-set: 10 x 50 @ :50 (I did a little stroke on a few)

main 1:
8 x 100, done as 2 each @ 1:50, 1:40, 1:30, 1:20
(put on Agility paddles for those last 2)

interlude:
1000 swim, neg split

main 2:
8 x 100, done as 2 each @ 1:20, 1:30, 1:40, 1:50
(I wore Catalyst paddles for the first 3)

there was more , but I took a rare Masters option, warmed down (staying out of the way), and got out

300 w/d

TTL: 3700 yards


still getting over whatever funk I had, and after swimming last night, at that late point in the set my body told me it was time. I so very rarely do things like that, it completely took everyone by surprise.
after the 2nd 100s, there was a 500 w/fins (paddles optional), or 400 IM. supposedly there were 25s after that.
so often I get over a sickness, overtrain, then I'm either sick or injured again. perhaps this time I can find some middle balance. although I'll be traveling next week, and will undoubetly miss some swimming.

initially I got in an odd lane, did warm-up there fine. then we started the 50s, Paul had given that :50 interval. I did the first, did the 2nd on :50, and both gals there didn't, when I returned they told me they were doing 1:00. so I moved over.
I went 3rd in that lane, and got a bit of draft (when I was close enough). I took the 1000 quite casual, got lapped by both guys, but held rather close for the 100s.

Paul informed us that all tickets for next week's Grand Prix meet are completely sold out. I think even the volunteer positions are at capacity too. I remember last year they were begging even day of for people to go.
unfortunately, I'll be out of town for work. but I'm not one to watch sports (other than an occasional pro local team game), so I probably wouldn't have gone anyway.
