I had done an, "easy," 200 breast last week in about 3:20, and wanted to do about the same today. finished that in 3:15. I finished the 200s on either side both on 2:50, which means I could have definitely pushed that breast a bit more.
I think next time I'll do a 200 with 75 easy/25 fast. I can swim miles of freestyle, but for some reason the 200 breast seems a bit intimidating.

I did that 50 fast breast toward the end in :39, which would be a decent pace to hold for the whole thing (works out to under 2:40).

Have today off from work so decided to do a longer swim. I showed up around 6am, the lifeguards were all holed up in their hooch, not a soul in the water. I think they were a bit pissed that I was there... air temp was about 40F, but the water is heated so was fine. had the whole pool to myself the entire time, and was in the water until about 7:45.


I bit the bullet and entered USMS nationals over the weekend. so my schedule is:
* Wednesday: Saguaro (about 10 miles)
* Thursday: 1000 free (I expect a late start, the 1650 is first)
* Friday: 500 free (early) & 200 breast (3rd event of the day)
* Saturday PM: Roosevelt (10k), evening swim.

I'm planning to stay close to Eldorado pool in Scottsdale. It has rather generous hours, and I think admission is $5 or $6 for non-Scottsdale city residents. On the meet days, I'll head over there early for a longer stretch-out/warm-up, then do a short warm-up at Kino before my swims. I'll probably just do an easy 2-3000 on Saturday to unwind before that night swim (I've never done o/w at night, but have heard good things about this one).
