I once read that post 50 women should shorten their taper time because we lose muscle so quickly. I've been lifting weights (increasing the weight each month since November) and doing either a 30 minute run or stationary bike with 5-8 sprints of 60-70 seconds each 2-3 times a week. It has really helped me cut time, but now I am preparing for Nationals - what do I do for a taper? I am a sprinter, obviously, if that makes any difference.

I know tapering has been discussed many times and there are a ton of different approaches. Just wondered about the "aging women losing muscle" argument and how it might affect the approach. I am counting on my coaches for the swimming part, but am wondering what thoughts you may have on the dry land work I'm doing

Thanks for your thoughts!
