TNYA is a mission-driven non-profit. In addition to running an aquatics program that includes five different sports, we also work to support our mission of LGBTQ inclusion through additional programs, including fundraisers for LGBTQ causes, competitions, social events, and scholarships.To that end, TNYA is seeking to hire a Team Manager to oversee the day to day administration of our aquatics programming. TNYA currently offers 16 weekly swim practices, 1 water polo, 1 diving, and 1 synchronized swimming practice and seasonal open water practices across 7 pools (and one ocean) in four Boroughs and we are looking to grow. We are seeking an individual with exceptional diligence, organization and project management skills, and superior communication skills to manage the administrative tasks associated with maintaining and growing our aquatics program.This position reports to the Board of Directors, and will be overseen by the team President and Vice President, volunteer elected officers of the team.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate a consistent practice schedule across all five sports, in close coordination with the Board and coaching staff;
  • Liaise with pool and facility managers to secure rental contracts for pool time for swimming, water polo, synchro, and diving;
  • Coordinate team participation in competitions and events, and secure event coaching staff and volunteers;
  • Maintain relationships with sports governing bodies including LMSC, USMS, USA Water Polo, USA Diving, and USA Synchro;
  • Respond to general and new member inquiries;
  • Draft and send weekly team announcements with input from the Board;
  • Pursue special projects as needed by the Board and Coaching staff as well as personal passion projects; and
  • Manage upward with the Board of Directors by communicating proactively about successes and challenges.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise professionally with members, coaches, the Board of Directors, and external partners;
  • Motivated self-starter comfortable taking a leadership role in a volunteer-driven organization;
  • Passion for our mission and aquatics program;
  • Embody the values outlined in the Code of Conduct; and
  • Prior experience in sports team management or fitness administration a plus.

This position is an independent contract role, with an estimated average time requirement of 5 hours per week, although that time commitment may vary from week to week. Compensation to be discussed with the candidate.
