Most of you seem to have it pretty good. My outdoor swim club closes this Sunday, 9/13. My open water swims ended last Tuesday. And that is 2 weeks longer than normal this year. Both would normally shut down at end of Aug. in upstate NY. I now have a choice of 5 YMCA indoor pools within a reasonable drive, but you can only reserve a lane for 30 minutes at a time, and on weekdays only. No lanes are available on Sat. or Sun.

I went to the pool to swim ------ closed for "maintenance" so I went to the fitness center for the 1st time. I worked out in a mask that got really sweaty!

Fortunately, I do have access to a LA Fitness, which, while being limited to 1 swimmer per lane and NOT having reservations, is relatively unused.
My pool suggested reserving two back to back sessions. If I'm able to actually do that, I will reserve two spots.

Oregon just changed the rules so that pools can be open for lap swimming only under phase one(which is what my county is under) That means that the closest pool to me would be open now, except for the wildfire danger. Maybe soon.

MY1st swim since march today. I had my own lane and 3 other splashers joined in later.
I swam a total of 1,000 yards of free - back - br - fly drill.
Felt good but, sore shoulders. Let's see how tomorrow feels?

Finally you got to swim! So happy for you. 3 splashers shared with you? I thought sharing a lane was not permitted under the guidelines. I haven't seen anyone sharing a lane indoors yet.
BTW, my outdoor pool is STILL open and true to form, usually September is grossly hot and humid. Not this year, temps in the high 40's, or 50's at night, pool temp is 77. Which would be ok, if it warmed up outside, but we have hazy skies, wind and temps barely reaching 74 by 4:00 PM. Thankfully, there is also an indoor pool, but I am envious of those few that are swimming outside.

Renie Each of us had are own lane , no sharing yet till swim team starts up in Oct. That will be interesting to see how it really works out with 2-5 per lane??
Temp dropped today to a chilly 66 hi and 42 low, so no to outdoor pools here.
Do you go to Nationals? I would like to meet you some time.

Hi Orca, so far, people are still braving the chill outdoors. The alleged "heated outdoor pool at 81degrees" was 74 yesterday. Temp outside only hit 69 with 12 mph winds. Not for me. Indoor pools getting a bit busier, but still quiet. it seems like the majority of swimmers would rather brave the cold outside than swim indoors for fear of COVID. It would've been great to meet you, but I don't attend nationals.

2021 is scheduled to be at Greensboro not that far from you. Remember you can swim 3 events without making qualifying times as many swimmers do to try Mationals . Some on our Masters team do this for the experience. Think about it, it's not all about winning. this is coming from an old, fat man of 74!
